IF Cupid's arrows keep missing the mark, then maybe you need a prescription from Doctor Love.
The body language and communications expert, otherwise known as Peter Spalton, runs flirting and dating workshops across Britain for singletons struggling to find "the one" and now he is bringing his pioneering weekend workshop to Scotland.
It is probably just as well, as one in three Scots now live alone, something Peter puts down to our chaotic lifestyles.
TOP TIPS FROM THE DATING DOCTOR
1 First thing to do is open your mind to the realisation that the person you are looking for could well be standing close to you.
He or she could be behind you in the line for the cashpoint or at the next table in a cafe.
And the only way you can find out if they are suitable is to turn round and talk to them.
Only then will you discover if they are single, attractive and interested.
2 Second most important thing is to take off your mask. People tend to hide themselves from the world, but if you are looking for love this isn't going to help.
Make yourself look available and by that I don't mean wear fishnets. Open up your body language and don't do things like walk around with your iPod in because that just screams you want to stay in your own little world.
3 People looking for love need to get out and try lots of things.
Speed dating is a great way to practise conversation, social skills and find out what questions are good to ask and how to answer ones asked of you. The internet is another good tool to try because it easily fits in with your busy life - you can sit in bed sending emails to prospective dates.
4 Avoid bars and clubs if you are looking for someone to have a relationship with because there is far too much expectation and it's not conducive to finding 'the one'.
Instead, strike up a chat in somewhere like Starbucks because nobody there is expecting anything and will be more relaxed and friendly.
