More than half the 500 single women polled said a sense of humour was the most important thing they looked for in a date.

WOMEN would rather date Phoenix Nights star Peter Kay than Brad Pitt because it is humour not looks that is most likely to win their heart, it's claimed.

The roly poly comic who starred as nightclub owner Brian Potter, above, in the series, was voted the top date among 500 customers of leading dating agency Match.com.

Brad Pitt, despite his obvious physical advantages over the Bolton funnyman, was second in the poll, followed by George Clooney and ladies' man David Walliams. More than half the 500 single women polled said a sense of humour was the most important thing they looked for in a date.

Only 7% said good looks and 1% said a good body was vital for a successful date.
