In this ever increasing technological world, more and more internet users are delving into the world of internet dating.The Peel Regional Police would like to ensure that when using such services, both women and men remain vigilant with respect to personal safety.

Here are some tips:

When accessing a dating service over the internet, ENSURE that you are dealing with a reputable service provider.Check to see what their registration policy is.
When meeting a person over the internet, ALWAYS retain contact information, including a call back phone number that you have confirmed, and references to confirm the person's identity.
If you do decide to meet face to face, TRY to make it a group meeting, where there are people that you know to help if there is a problem.If that's not possible, ALWAYS make sure someone knows who you are with and where you are.
REMAIN in a public place at all times, and meet AT the location – do not get into a vehicle with the person.
