"I've been in the matchmaking business for 16 years," Ivan Thompson said.
Thompson is a cowboy-turned-cupid who specializes in romances that span the border. It all started with his own search for love.
"I was divorced and lonely, and I gave birth to this thought, 'I'll run me an ad in the Mexico paper: Gringo looking for a Mexican wife.' And I got a lot of responses," he said.
He got 80 responses. Enough to convince him it might work for other men. Most of Thompson's clients are divorced.
"She takes my hand and puts it here between both of her hands like that, innocent but very warm gesture. It just took off," said David Block, one of Thompson's clients.
Two months after that meeting, they married. "Se me hizo muy guapo," his wife, Irene, said.
Despite a language barrier, their love grew and now story is now the couple have a daughter together. They are also raising one daughter from Irene's first marriage.
Thompson gets a lot of credit but the cowboy cupid has his share of critics. He's been accused of taking advantage of desperate women.
The matchmaker stands by his belief that love doesn't stop at the border.
He's been featured in an award-winning documentary, Cowboy del Amor and the producer is now working on a reality television show.
