A NEW way of meeting and making friends will be launched in Malvern.

Date: 2007-01-12

Friends 4 You will follow the now-familiar speed dating format, introducing strangers to potential new buddies through three-minute chat slots'.

In this way, they can meet a lot of new people in just one evening and decide for themselves who they would like to see again.

The friendship evenings will be held at the Lyttelton Well, on Church Street, and be relaxed and casual.

Friends 4 You is the brainchild of a group of friends from St Andrew's Church.

“It’s not a dating agency or a counselling service, it’s just somewhere to make new friends,”
Jo Hartwright

"It's not a dating agency or a counselling service, it's just somewhere to make new friends," said one of the organisers, Jo Hartwright.

The group is open to adults of all ages, both men and women.

"A lot of people find themselves on their own for all kinds of reasons, perhaps because of bereavement, relationship breakdown or maybe even job relocation," added Mrs Hartwright.

Friends 4 You will introduce people to new friends in a safe, structured environment. After arrival, registration and drinks there will be a short introductory talk followed by chat slots with all members of the group. Light refreshments will follow, while organisers collate information and contact details.

The first Friends 4 You meeting is on Friday, February 9, from 7.30-9.30pm and costs £6. Pick up a leaflet from the Lyttelton Well, call 07900 864702 or write to Friends 4 You at The Church Office, c/o All Saints Church, Wells Road, Malvern, WR14 4PA.
