It’s official, 2007 is all about romance. Forget getting fit, aiming for a pay rise or seeing more of your family, new research released today has uncovered the ultimate New Year’s Resolution for 2007 is to find love.
The poll of 1500 people released by Loaded Magazine showed that over 58% of those surveyed (18-24 males) stated 2007 was the year that they truly wanted to settle down and find their perfect partner - surpassing any other resolution they had.
Londoners came out on top for being the most desperate for love with 62% vowing to meet their love match in 2007. This was followed by Southampton 38%, Stoke-on-Trent 22% and Coventry with 9%.
But it isn’t all doom and gloom. Men living in the north are far more likely to find love, with Manchester coming up tops followed by Leeds.
In conjunction with Loaded Magazine’s online dating experiment, incredible results have revealed that the best way to find love these days is through internet dating websites, showing themselves astonishingly to be 70% more effective than trying to meet your partner in a bar.
A surprising 62% of those polled stated that they would not be embarrassed by any social stigma attached to online dating and would happily admit to meeting their partner though a website.
Loaded Magazine, Dating Expert Jeff Maysh says: “Everyone wants to find love and online dating these days is the easiest, safest and at the moment, trendiest way to run your love life. Whether you want to find the love of your life or simply want to meet as many girls as humanely possible without leaving your desk – internet dating is the way forward”.
With the impending smoking ban in July, giving up cigarettes comes in second place with 19% of the vote, with Glasgow being the town that wants to clean up its act the most. Surprisingly Northerners are 22% keener than Southerners to kick the nicotine habit in 2007.
Bosses beware as 18% of those polled are focused on moving onto pastures new, seemingly with females being more ambitious with a female/male split of 60 to 40.
It must be the season of goodwill as 16% of respondents polled have decided that being nicer to their partners is the way forward in 2007.
