Dating Safety Tips

Date: 2006-12-14
Dating is actually a test to find out whether or not the person you are meeting with could be the right person for you to spend your life with. While you are searching, you are bound to go out on many dates, and meet many people. Your personal safety is very important and it is wise to err on the side of caution when you meet someone for the first time. Trust is something that grows and until someone has earned your trust, the golden rule is ‘look out for number one’.

Are You Circumspect Enough?

There are many things you should keep in mind when you go on a date. Most importantly, ensure that you follow these dating safety tips, they could save you from potentially dangerous situations.

  1. Never have your date come to your house till you are totally familiar with him or her. This is very important because things might not work out and you never know how the other person will react to this. It could happen that your date takes rejection personally and wants to “teach” you a lesson. Therefore, never disclose your exact address, or call your date(s) home till you learn more about them.
  2. Always have someone know about your whereabouts and when you are expected back from the date. If you have a cell phone, let them have the number (they could be your family, your friends and even neighbors). In case something goes wrong, there should be someone out there who would know about it soon enough. This dating safety tip should never be ignored.
  3. Choose a public place for the initial meetings – like coffee shops, snack bars, shopping malls, theaters etc. Do not opt for secluded spots unless you are totally comfortable with the person. Going to a hotel room, his/her house, an ‘empty apartment’ etc is not a good idea. Do not ignore this dating safety tip at any cost. There have been many instances where people (both male and female) have been hurt or killed because they ignored this safety rule.
  4. Always keep a close eye on your drinks if you are dining or at a bar or club. Drink spiking (drugging) is more common than you think and is undetectable until it’s too late.
  5. Make arrangements to leave the meeting place alone. This dating safety tip would enforce the fact that you would not have the person know exactly where you live. Until you are completely comfortable with the person, it is safer not to let him/her know your address.

'Marriages of conveniences on the rise'Law would promote careless online datingScots women drinking more than ever as liver disease cases double
There has been a sharp increase in the number of cases of marriage of convenience using forged papers, and the Home Ministry suspects syndicates are bringing in "foreign brides" for vice. Deputy Home Minister Tan chai Ho said in the past two months, immigration officers had picked up many foreign brides in nightspots and found that their "marriages" to local men were just a ploy to get to stay in Malaysia to work. He said acting on tip-offs, immigration officers raided nightstpots in Penang ...I am a romance coach with an international Internet-based business here in Tallahassee. I work with singles to find partners using Internet dating sites. I'm concerned that our Legislature is considering a new law that could endanger Florida singles who use Internet dating services. House Bill 531 and Senate Bill 1224 would create a false sense of security by having the state endorse an outdated and ineffective way to keep convicted criminals off of online dating sites. The main proponent of t...THE number of women dying from alcohol-related liver disease has more than doubled in eight years, outstripping the rise in men, according to new figures which reveal the true extent of Scotland's binge drinking culture. In the past, doctors saw fewer cases of liver disease among people in their thirties. But the new data reveals that the number of women aged 30 to 44 who died of alcohol-related liver disease doubled from 32 in 1997 to 64 in 2005; for women aged between 45 and 59 the rise wa...
