Yahoo Inc. and Beliefnet Inc. said Thursday they are collaborating on what the companies say will be the largest online community of spiritual singles.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Sunnyvale-based Yahoo (NASDAQ:YHOO) and New York-based Beliefnet said the service will be called Soulmatch and will be accessible through Yahoo Personals.
Yahoo will also add Beliefnet spiritual relationship content to its site to form an online spiritual center.
Privately-held Beliefnet said it has more than 9 million members, and Yahoo Personals reports more than 5 million visitors per month.
Also Thursday, Yahoo said it is teaming up with partners that include Martha Stewart, Wolfgang Puck, Epicurious.com, and Allrecipes.com for a new food Web site.
Yahoo Food will include new search tools and editorial features, including indexes with thousands of recipes. Users can search by ingredient, cuisine, special days, taste or mealtimes.
The site will initially feature 13 bloggers, including Marcus Samuelsson with "The Continental Chef," Art Smith with "Back to the Table," Donatella Arpaia with "Donatella's Dish," Serious Eats' Ed Levine with "Ed Levine Eats," and Frank Stitt with "Southern Table," In addition, Yahoo will debut a new original online video show called "Cheap and Easy."
