A movie is often the destination of couples out for a first date and a service that links city singles is simply skipping a step.
Meeting that person you'd actually like to spend an evening at the movies with is the hard part and after receiving several requests from its customers, the online dating company LavaLife decided to help singles hook up at the show.
"We know that singles really love to be meeting face-to-face and we get tons of requests specifically in Canada to be doing events," matchmaker Lori Miller said.
"So this is a great way to be able to bring all those singles together so they can actually meet someone face-to-face."
Meeting a potential date at the theatre is an appealing idea to single Marie Nicola, who's not into meeting guys at the local watering hole.
"Who isn't hoping to find that one special person? But, again, you've got to get out there. You've got to meet people," she said, adding "I'm not a bar scene kind of girl."
The only way to achieve success at this kind of event is to draw equal amounts of women and men, so movie selection is key. "The Prestige", a flick about rival magicians, was apparently the best bet at the box office Wednesday.
And a few cocktails are usually in order if you're mingling before a show, so LavaLife Click at a Flickevents also include a couple of drinks at the lounge at the Paramount theatre with the price of a ticket.
"I think it's great. It's great. I can't wait," hopeful dater Jacquelynn Macarthur said before the event.
