A local realtor has been arrested after being accused of taking women he met on a dating Web site to his own home and raping them. Images | Video Prosecutors said Joseph Garcia Jr., 47, met at least two of his victims on a Web site called MillionaireMatch.com, and investigators said there may be more victims, some of whom may be afraid to come forward.
BC4's Donna Tetreault reported that Garcia appeared in court in Newport Beach on Monday, charged in the sexual assault of two women between the ages of 22 and 42. Garcia was charged with six counts of sexual assault. He was arrested Friday at his home, where a neighbor witnessed the arrest. "We heard rustling outside and came out to see what is going on, there were 15 swat members from the Irvine Police Department," Gary Martin said. "Next thing I know, my neighbor is hauled off in handcuffs." Police said Garcia met two of his three victims through an online dating service, MillionaireMatch.com, and the attacks happened in his home between March 2005 and last week. Farrah Emami, of the Orange County District Attorney's office, said the women all agreed to go on dates with him, but then after taking them to his home, he raped one of them and sodomized all three of them. "Investigators released a second picture of Garcia because they believe there are other victims who might need another look," Tetreault reported. "Because of the nature of the online dating experience and his aggressiveness, we think there are other women that didn't come forward," Lt. Rick Hanfield said. If convicted, Garcia could face 45 years to life in prison. He is being held on $ million bail.
