Sherry and Eva Singer are a match made in heaven.
The mother and daughter team live together in Stevenson Ranch, go out together and spend lots of time with each other, and their birthdays are a day apart.
They also happen to be matchmakers.
Eva and Sherry run Meet-a-Mate, a matchmaking company with clients from throughout the greater Los Angeles area, including Santa Clarita Valley.
They also have been featured on several television shows, such as the E! Network's "Dr. 90210" and serving as consultants for the "Greg Behrens Show," a daytime talk show on the CW Network.
Eva was born in Hungary in 1942, surviving both the Holocaust and the 1956 Hungarian Revolution.
At 14, she moved to Israel, where she started developing her matchmaking skills.
She had five ex-boyfriends, and set them up with her friends. All of the relationships ended up in marriages.
Eva decided for herself that she wanted to meet an American man. Two weeks later, after being stationed at a settlement to guard the northern border for the Israeli army, she met her future husband, Ron.
To seal the deal, she said to Ron, "Kiss me, marry me or go." It worked, because they married when she was 21.
Sherry was born after Eva Singer and her husband moved to the United States. They opened up health clubs in Chicago, where she would become an aerobics instructor.
Sherry moved to Israel for several years for school, and after she returned, the Singers relocated in Hawaii.
During their time in Hawaii, Sherry and Eva met a matchmaker, and Sherry signed up almost immediately due to her shyness.
"It's easier to give a lecture or do a national television show than it is for me to go up to a guy and say hello," she said.
Sherry ended up working for the matchmaker, before deciding to move to California and open her own matchmaking business.
Eva said Sherry used to call her, begging her to move to California and to help with her business.
After a first attempt at a matchmaking business, Sherry and Eva opened up Meet-a-Mate in 1995, with Ron helping until his death in 2001.
In the years since, they have set up approximately 475 marriages, with only two resulting divorces.
Sherry started getting calls to appear in documentaries on dating, and eventually found work for her matchmaking services on television, including a stint as a dating coach for "Extreme Makeover."
If the show has to do with plastic surgery, Sherry said she seems to get called only when the featured person has a particular part of the body worked on.
"All my plastic surgery shows have to do with boobs," she said. "It gets me on television."
In addition, Sherry has lectured and worked in radio.
Eva said she's fine when it comes to Sherry handling public relations, and prefers to focus her attention on the relationships themselves.
When clients call asking for their services, they are scheduled for an initial interview with Eva.
Eva said she is very particular when potential clients come into her office. She expects them to be put together and smell good. Within a minute of talking, Eva will be able to see into a client further than expected.
She looks for people who are respectful and thoughtful, and are mature enough and willing to be guided in how to have a good relationship, a subject Eva said she feels should be taught more.
They do turn away clients, and there are some who Eva knows that she can't work with, particularly if they have relationship issues.
"I can carry a little baggage if they leave it at the door," she said.
Although Sherry is single herself, being single doesn't bother her.
"Yes, I'm single, and I'm getting married soon," she said. "I just don't know who he is yet."
Until then, Sherry and Eva have each other, the best of friends with nothing but kind words to say about one another.
"We live happily ever after together," Eva said.
