A DATING agency has gone completely smoke-free after new research showed single smokers have a tough time getting a partner.
The Single Solution has banned tobacco at its events in a bid to attract more singletons.
The firm said smokers and non-smokers alike have responded well to the move and find it easier to make a good first impression.
Spokesman Paul Ergatoudis said he believed the London-based agency, which also runs events around England, is the first in the country to go completely smoke-free.
He said: "We know from our events and requests we receive from our daters that many people find non-smokers more attractive and, given the choice, they'd much rather their date didn't smoke.
"Smokers struggle to get the level of interest non-smokers do and many even hide their habit to get a first date.
"My advice to smokers is ditch the fags completely. It's the best way to give an instant boost to your pulling power - you'll look better, smell better, feel better and have more money to splash out on impressing your date or sprucing yourself up."
Kissing
Research out today from the NHS Smoking Helpline found that 57% of all people dislike kissing smokers and even 12% of those hooked on tobacco hate kissing fellow addicts.
Just 6% of the 2,274 people questioned said they actually liked kissing smokers.
The helpline is relaunching a series of adverts today on the link between smoking and a poor sex life.
The first advert shows the impact of smoking on impotence and erectile dysfunction, while the second shows the effects of smoking on appearance.
Alexia Patterson, NHS Smoking Helpline adviser, said: "Everyone knows that smoking is bad for your health, but for younger people, fears about attractiveness and fertility can be a stronger motivation to give up and stay quit."
The helpline said it received more than 200,000 responses to last year's campaign via its text, phone and online service.
