An Isanti woman who signed up for an online dating service said she was charged a subscription fee despite canceling her service.
Sherri Ronning contacted 5 FIGHTING FOR YOU to help get the $49.99 she paid to True.com back.
Ronning decided to try the online dating service after going through a divorce.
”I'm not a bar hopper,” Ronning says. “It just isn't my style.”
Ronning signed up for the free week the dating service offered, but when she tried to cancel, the Web site offered her a free month.
However, when she tried to cancel after that free month, the company told her they had already charged her.
”He still wouldn't let me speak to a supervisor … I said, ‘I need to speak to supervisor, I can't afford this service,’” Ronning says. “That's a lot of money; that's a month's groceries, electric bill … it's a tank of gas.”
5 FIGHTING FOR YOU called true.com, and after being placed on hold for a half hour and talking to several people, a supervisor was finally made available.
The supervisor said Donning had cancelled the ‘free’ trial a day too late.
True.com said they didn’t do anything wrong, but they did agree to refund Ronning’s money.
Ronning says she’s glad to get her money back, and grateful to 5 FIGHTING FOR YOU.
”You guys step in when no one else does,” she says.
Although Mr. Right may not have been on True.com, Ronning is certain he’s still out there.
