Slinky Dating Australia www.slinky.com.au has launched a new anti-fraud system to eliminate fraudulent users signing up as dating members and then swindling other unsuspecting members.
Slinky Dating Australia has always targeted Australian only members, but has always been inundated with foreign web surfers trying to become members from places like Ghana, Nigeria and the Ukraine.
More often than not they would try and hide their locations pretending to be in Australia by using local post codes or telephone details that turned out to be false. They would then use stolen credit cards to buy credits to contact unsuspecting members promising that they were on their way to Australia, but just needed some short term financial help to get there.
The new sophisticated fraud system identifies potential scammers using a point system that returns a score to web administrators based on details of their IP address location against information that they have provided on the join form. It also identifies whether they are using an anonymous or open proxy server - a common scammer/fraudster trick.
If the score returned is deemed too high the application is automatically rejected.
Successful applications for membership are listed with a “verified” logo next to their nicknames on www.slinky.com.au
