British embassy to open New visa application processing centers in major 11 Russian cities

Date: 2006-04-11

(Itar-Tass) The British embassy in Russia will recruit partner companies to deal with visa applications from May 2006.

One of them is VFS, which will work in cooperation with the Russian company Interlink. They will accept visa fees, check the correctness of visa application forms, and type the information into the computer.

All visa decisions will be made by embassy personnel in Moscow and the consulate generals in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg, the embassy said on Monday.

British Ambassador Anthony Brenton believes that the new system will simplify the issue of visas and make this process more comfortable for Russian people who live in different parts of the country.

New visa application processing centers will be set up in 11 major Russian cities. They will have longer working hours than the embassies and consulates.

A single embassy-controlled visa processing fee of 900 roubles will be introduced. The sum does not include the cost of the visa and will be paid in addition to the regular visa fee.

Last year, the British embassy in Russia issued about 108,000 visas, an increase of 11 percent from the previous year.

The dating service surveyed more than 2,500 of its users and found that people are more than twice as likely to think about breaking up now than at any other time of the year. The prime period seems to be b...When her jailbird husband left her for the nanny, Lady Alice Douglas despaired of ever recovering from the blow. Then life took a passionate and surprising turn: At the end of 2003, I was the living embodiment of that age-old cliche, the dumped wife and mother. Alone, demoralised and unloved, I couldn't believe how foolish I'd been, trusting a man who had cheated on me with - of all people - our au pair. I'd been in relationships almost continuously from my 20s and had lost any ability to be.../Buxterbulletin.com/ -- You're over 40, single and about to dip into the dating pool. Now what? "Women are pushovers for flowers — send them flowers," says Bob Buechler, at 66 a bachelor who's been active on the singles scene for 20 years. "Let's face it; if you're going to hang with women, you've got to take them out. It's going to cost you money." Scholars are studying the issue. One research paper, Dating in Later Life, explored the courtship experiences of women older than 60. It was writ...
